East Africa's Ultimate Adventure

From Nairobi to Ngorongoro, from Lake Nakuru to Lukuba...from Kenya to Tanzania.  In 12 days you'll head from the heart Nairobi to the heart of the forest, wind south and cross the rolling plains of the Masai Mara into the Serengeti, take a boat to a luxury island retreat and finish up in a prehistoric cater.

This tour starts in Kenya's vibrant capital and takes you on a once-in-a-lifetime journey through two of Africa's most rich and diverse countries.  After a night of luxury in Nairobi's Norfolk Hotel, you'll proceed to Aberdare where waterfalls, rainforest and cool highlands await your exploration.   Lake Nakuru, the next Kenyan destination, is equally exciting – this large soda lake often appears pink due to the thousands (or even millions) of flamingos gathering on the shores.  You might even spot a rhino there before heading for a boat trip on Lake Naivasha, a reserve renowned for its many birds of prey and hippo population.  The Masai Mara National Reserve is the ultimate Kenyan destination – a great place to spot the “Big Five” and take photos of dark silhouettes against a red sunset.

Your Tanzanian journey begins in style with a stay on a private island retreat on Lake Victoria, nestled in fig trees and surrounded by cheeky vervet monkeys.  The next stop at the Mapito Tented Camp provides an African experience like no other.  Ten luxury tents are situated in Ikoma, just outside the boundaries of the Serengti, where there is always plenty of wildlife about.  This is really one of the best ways to experience the sights and sounds of night-time Africa.  The penultimate stop is at the Ngorongoro crater – the site where a prehistoric volcano collapsed in on itself millions of years ago.  The resulting crater is now a haven for lions, wildebeest, zebra, elephant and even the endangered black rhino.  The tour finishes with a drive and overnight at Lake Manyara National Park, so rich with wildlife and birds.

Colonial opulence, lodges in the trees, crackling campfires and infinity pools

To overnight at Nairobi's Stanley Hotel is to experience the ultimate in style and comfort.  This hotel offers modern elegance with a traditional twist.  Staying here really is a fantastic way to start a safari adventure.  The Ark at Aberdares is a beautiful timbre-built lodge which blends perfectly into its forest surroundings, and the Lion Hill Lodge is simply comfortable, luxurious and beautiful.  The Keekorok Lodge, built as it is in the direct path of the Great Migration, is a fantastic place to view game - especially on a night-time game drive where you can see porcupine, aardvark, servals and mongoose.

The Lukuba Island Lodge is situated on Lake Victoria, set in stone bungalows with thatched roofs all just steps from the beach, is a truly wonderful place to take in the stunning views.  The island itself is teeming with birds and other wildlife, and you can hike, take boat trips or go fishing.  At the Mapito Tented Camp you'll stay in luxury tents with all the amenities you could need (private verandas, tables and chairs, fans, mosquito netting, flush toilets, hot showers), all the while staying close to the rhythm of nature.  Imagine emerging from a hot shower after a long day's safari, to sit by a campfire under the starry sky and listen to the sounds of African nature.  The Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge is perched on the eastern rim of the crater, offering breathtaking and uninterrupted views of the lush, green haven below.  Your final nights stay at the Lake Manyara Safari Lodge offers all the comfort and luxury of a Serena establishment.  It features an amazing infinity pool with a seemingly vanishing horizon, disappearing over the cliffs below.
